TAG Heuer WAZ111A.BA0875 Review: Formula 1 Swiss Quartz Watch

Launched back in 1986, the Formula 1 or simply F1 series continues to attract both the young and old.

The TAG Heuer WAZ111A.BA0875 is among the top selections. It exudes a sporty and elegant appeal, which is associated with formula one racing.

It’s also a tough watch designed to put-up with day-to-day wearing and harsh handling.

In this TAG Heuer WAZ111A.BA0875 review, we will point out the key features.

TAG Heuer Men's WAZ111A.BA0875 Formula 1 Stainless Steel...

  • 41 mm stainless steel case with synthetic-sapphire dial window
  • Swiss quartz movement with analog display

Uniquely Placed But Functional Date/Day Window

We are used to seeing the calendar/ date window at the 3 o’clock point or somewhere near.

However, this watch decided to place it just above the 6 o’clock marker.

This gives it a rather odd look, which does seem to trigger lots of attention.

Also interesting is that it comes with two windows instead of the usual one.

Each sector hosts a single digit.

The layout makes the window larger and improves clarity since the numerals are larger.

They come in white and have aback background. Adjusting the time can be a little tricky initially due to the odd design.

Large Black Opalin Dial

We give props to TAG Heuer for fitting a large dial on the watch.

The overall diameter of the watch/ case is 41mm, which can be considered above average. And like the case, the dial is large enough to house the hands, large Arabic numerals, and hour markers.

It is black for better visibility and also for the refined look.

It combines well with the unidirectional bezel.

It’s black while the bezel is shiny silver with numbers engraved on it.

The date/day window is at the 6 o’clock position, while the markers and hands are luminous for easy viewing in the dark or at night.

Elegant and Functional Chronograph

According to most consumers, the chronograph function is among the best features.

First, it has a decent size, just like the dial.

Second, the placing is also good and it doesn’t bring out a cluttered or congested effect.

It features two subdials placed alongside each other.

One is at the 3 o’clock point and shows the seconds.

The other one is at the 9 o’clock point and serves as the alarm clock. Setting different functions is fairly easy.

You have a simple and contoured stainless steel screw-down crown.

Finely Polished and Brushed Stainless Steel Case

Stainless steel is popular with Formula 1 watches including this one.

It’s tough and keeps its chic looks for a long time and is also easy to maintain. It doesn’t corrode, rust, fade, or stain casualty.

The brushed and polished finish on both the case and band look good. It is also found on the deployment clasp that secures the bracelet.

Like the case and band, the face glass is also sturdy and durable.

It comprises synthetic sapphire crystal, which is resistant to chipping, dents, and scratches, vibration and more.

For good visibility even in sunny or bright conditions, it features antiglare coating.

Our Verdict

This watch brings out a bold statement.

It means serious business and should handle the bangs, abrasion, knocks, and exposure to the elements well.

The solid construction and tough materials work okay with the precise quartz mechanism, to ensure you are always on time. It has a user-friendly display, the numerals are large and it’s also very practical.

It is definitely a watch that any man will fancy buying.
