When Orient came out with their Bambino line of watches, the world smiled.
This is because we were given a line of classy and sophisticated dress watches that came at an affordable and practical price.
So it should come as no surprise that the second version of the Bambino line has created some kind of buzz.
We look at the third version of the 2nd generation Bambino in this Orient FAC0000DD0 review.
- Domed mineral crystal
- Modern, minimalist style
- Japanese-automatic Movement
Watch Movement
Like all the other watches in the Bambino line, this watch uses a Japanese Automatic movement.
This totally eliminates the need to get the battery changed or get the watch rewound, which is what happens with Quartz or mechanical movements.
When the watch is worn, the movement of your wrist and arm gives the watch power to keep ticking.
This means that if you wear the watch on a daily basis, you would never have to worry about the watch stops running.
And if it does, all you have to do is give a good shake and the watch will be as good as new.
Dial & Crystal
This watch has a fairly different design from others in the line, but that is far from a bad thing.
The dial features a deep blue background and silver stick markers which provide a premium contrast.
Combine that with the silver-colored rectangular hands, and reading this watch becomes a breeze.
Underneath the 12 o’clock marker is the Orient logo that doesn’t draw away from the overall dial design but serves as a nice detail and compliment.
At the 3 o’clock position is a date window that is just large enough to be easily read with the time, while also not being too large that it distracts from the dial.
A premium dial design needs premium protection, which is why Orient used a domed mineral crystal for this watch, which is known for being one of the toughest materials on the planet.
Case & Crown
This watch has a quality stainless steel case that measures in at 41mm in diameter and 12mm in width.
These dimensions couldn’t be more perfect for a dress watch.
The watch is the average size of a large men’s watch, so it looks solid and very classy on the wrist, while the width allows the watch to fit perfectly under the cuff of most dress shirts.
The watch also has a textured crown at the 3 o’clock position, which not only looks great but also makes time adjustment ridiculously easy on this watch.
Bezel
Like with most dress watches, this one uses a stationary bezel.
Stationary bezels don’t serve any extra purposes than sealing the watch, which is just fine as this isn’t a utility watch.
The bezel is made of stainless steel and blends perfectly with the case.
Strap & Buckle
The strap on this watch is made of beautiful black leather, which is arguably the best compliment to this already stunning watch.
The lug width of 21mm fits in perfectly with the watches size, and like with most leather straps, the classic buckle makes sure the watch won’t slip off your wrist at any point.
Water Resistance
This watch is water-resistant up to 30m (100ft), so that means that the watch can withstand most splashes and can be worn in the shower.
However, it isn’t advisable to expose the watch to water for too long.
So this means that you shouldn’t bring this watch on your next diving or snorkeling trip.
In Conclusion
A quality dress watch doesn’t have to be expensive, and all you have to do is look at this watch for proof.
This watch has an incredibly classy design, is made of quality materials, and you won’t have to bust the bank to purchase it.
A dress watch is an essential part of any man’s wardrobe, so if you’re on the hunt for one, look no further than the Orient FAC00009DD0.
