Invicta 8930OB Review – Pro Diver Automatic Gold-Tone Watch

Every man needs to have at least one flashy and loud watch in their collection.

But most affordable watches that try to look flashy often seem to look tacky.

Luckily, the Invicta 8930OB is not one of these watches that fell down that rabbit hole.

This timepiece is a watch that is gold-colored stainless steel with beautiful blue details that stand out beautifully.

We take a look at this watch in this Invicta 8930OB review.

Invicta Men's 8930OB Pro Diver Analog Display Japanese...
  • Gold tone stainless steel case 40mm diameter x 14mm thick; Exhibition case back; Blue dial; Luminous hands and hour markers
  • NH35A Japanese Automatic movement, 24 jewel; Assembled in Malaysia; Watch weight: 152 grams
  • Gold tone stainless steel band, 205mm L x 20mm W; Band is adjustable by adding/removing links; Fold over safety clasp

Movement

Like most watches in the Invicta Pro Diver series, this piece uses an Automatic Movement. But unlike the other pieces that use the cheaper Japanese Automatic, the 8930OB uses a Swiss Automatic movement.

This movement is significantly more expensive than its Japanese counterpart but is also much more accurate.

With this movement, you won’t have to worry about changing the battery every now and then because it relies on the movement of your arm and wrist to power the watch.

Case & Crown

Invicta 8930OB on hand

The case of this watch is definitely one of its main talking points. The 40mm diameter of the case makes this a fairly large men’s watch, which is definitely a perfect size for how loud this watch is.

The case is made of gold-colored stainless steel that really stands out, and since it’s only 14mm wide, the watch feels incredibly comfortable on the wrist.

Another reason for this comfort is the placement and size of the crown, which feels just right for the watch’s size.

One of my favorite details on this watch is the detailed engraving placed on the surface of the crown. A great touch by Invicta.

Dial & Crystal

To complement the shiny gold color that is on most of the watch is a royal blue dial with gold details. This gives the watch a great contrast, which also makes reading the time exceptionally easy to do.

On the face of the watch is well-placed date window, which is just as easy to read as the main dial.

Right below the 12 o’clock position is the Invicta logo, which stands out due to its gold color. The hands on this piece are something special as well, as each of the hands has their own intricate details that you can simply get lost in.

This timepiece also has a mineral crystal on it, which can protect the watch from bumps and dings that it will face on a daily basis.

Bezel

Invicta 8930OB angled

Like most diver’s watches out there, this product has a unidirectional bezel. This is used by diver’s to easily time their dives, which is a great addition due to how important time is when you’re underwater.

The bezel follows the overall gold and blue theme of the watch by having a blue background and gold details.

Bracelet & Buckle

The bracelet of this watch is gold plated stainless steel, and it has a lug width of 20mm. This just the right width for the 40mm case, and the choice to keep the gold color was a great addition by Invicta.

Following the diver’s watch theme is the fold-over-clasp of the watch, which is there to ensure that the watch won’t slip off when the wearer is busy diving in the ocean (or going through their regular workday).

Water Resistance & Other Complications

As this is a diver’s watch, it can be expected that it has exceptional water resistance.

This watch can definitely be worn for regular water activities like taking a shower or going for a casual swim, but 200m water resistance also means that you can take this when going snorkeling or going for a dive in the ocean.

Aside from that, the watch also has luminous hands, to make sure you can read the time whether in a dark room or in the dark depths of the ocean.

Conclusion

There aren’t a lot of watches in the 8930OB’s price range that fuses loud flashy design, functionality, affordability and class the way Invicta did.

For some reason, they were able to find a great balance between all those factors. For those who need a nice flashy watch and don’t want to bust the bank, then this watch will definitely catch your attention!
