A Head To Head Comparison Of The Invicta 8926 And Invicta 0420 – Which One Will You Choose?

The Invicta Pro Diver series is a go-to collection for those looking for budget dive watches.

And one of my favorites from the series is the Pro Diver 8926.

It’s modeled after the Rolex Submariner, one of the most popular dive watches on the planet, and it offers a surprising amount of functionality, especially considering its price.

While the 8926 is definitely one of my favorite Invicta models, one other watch tends to catch my attention: the Invicta Pro Diver 0420.

It still obviously pays homage to the Submariner and still offers a lot of function, but it also comes in a durable titanium case.

Those who go out looking for a budget dive watches tend to have these two models as some of their top choices.

And considering how similar the models are, it’s easy to see why some people have a hard time choosing between the two.

If you’ve been trying to choose between the Invicta 8926 and Invicta 0420, you’ve come to the right place, as we lay out all their differences and similarities in this head to head comparison.

What Are The Similarities?

Case & Dial

These two watches use different materials for their case, but we’ll dig into that later.

For now, we have to talk about the case similarities, and these timepieces have near-identical designs.

Since they are dive watches, they both have a 40mm case, which will allow you to read the time easily in a variety of conditions.

These watches look best on larger wrists, as they tend to take up a lot of space, but if worn right, it can also look great on smaller wrists.

The dials on these watches are more or less the same.

Both have a black background with white round markers, a sweeping Mercedes-style minute hand a small date window, and the Invicta logo in the center.

It obviously takes a lot of inspiration from the Submariner, which is what a lot of people love and hate about these watches.

Lume

Another thing these two watches have in common is their lume.

While they both are equipped with lume to allow you to read the time in dark conditions, it isn’t the best lume out there.

This is to be expected from watches within this price range, so it’s really no surprise.

Don’t get me wrong, the lume is bright, however, it doesn’t last too long.

In fact, before I can even get to reading the time I start seeing the brightness diminish.

A small detail, but an important one nonetheless.

What Are The Differences?

Movement

Both these watches run on Seiko automatic movements, but they do not run on the same movement.

The 8926 model runs on the NH35A movement of Seiko, which contains 24-jewels and loses about a second or two a day, which is great, especially considering its price.

This movement has a hacking seconds hand, which looks great with the watch, but a lot of people look for a sweeping seconds hand when it comes to diving watches.

The 0420 watch, on the other hand, runs on the NH24A movement, which only has 21-jewels.

This movement contains a sweeping seconds hand which may be attractive to those looking for something closer to a Submariner.

Both these watches have a 40-hour power reserve, which is very good for its price range and is arguably one of the best.

The movement on these watches really surprised me considering how affordable these two timepieces are.

Bezel

Another difference between these two dive watches is the Bezel.

The 8926 has a scalloped-edged bezel, similar to the Omega Seamaster, while the 0420 has a coin-edge one, that is more reminiscent of the Submariner.

The scalloped-edge bezel can be hard to adjust, but offers a unique look, while the coin-edge bezel gives off a more classic vibe.

Materials

The main difference you’ll find in these two watches is what they are made out of.

The 8926 has a simple stainless steel case and bracelet, which is to be expected from a sub-$100 watch.

The 0420 has a brushed titanium case and bezel, which are more premium materials and is the main reason this watch is a bit more expensive.

Because of this, the 0420 will be a little bit more durable, but not by that much as both still have cheap, yet very tough, mineral crystals to protect the dial.

Conclusion – Which One is Better?

This all depends on your tastes and preferences.

The 8926 is a cheaper watch that looks like the Rolex Submariner with small details taken from the Omega Seamaster.

This is the watch to go for if you’re on a tight budget and want a reliable beater watch.

If you choose the 0420, you will get a tougher case and a design that more closely resembles the classic Submariner.

What’s most important to remember though, is to ask yourself which one you prefer and which one you’re comfortable buying.

That way, regardless of the decision, you know that you’re wearing a watch that you want to wear and enjoy wearing.
