Fossil FS4813 Review – Grant Stainless Steel Chronograph Watch

Whenever I find myself inspecting a watch whether it be for purchasing or simply window shopping, I always pay close attention to the watch’s dial.

After all, a dial may be pretty and aesthetically pleasing, but can also be difficult to read.

When getting a watch I look for a watch dial that not only looks great but is also easy to read.

And that’s exactly what Fossil gave us with their Grant Chronograph.

We take a look at the wonderfully designed watched in this Fossil FS4813 review.

Dial & Crystal

The dial on this watch is pure class, with the large gold-colored Roman Numeral hour markers, bold, white skeleton hour and minute hands, and gold-colored seconds hand.

All of these contrast beautifully with the dial’s black background. On the face sits three subdials for 24-hour time and a tachymeter that can time up to 30 minutes.

While there is a lot going on in the dial, time is still incredibly easy to read, especially since the hands are coated in lume to increase visibility when it’s dark.

A dial this beautiful needs to be protected well and Fossil knows that as they equipped the watch with a mineral crystal, which can easily protect the watch against scratches,

Movement

Fossil FS4813 on wrist

Fossil is known for producing watches with great quality at an affordable price, which is why they chose to use the ever-reliable, yet inexpensive Quartz movement.

The watch is powered by a Japanese Quartz movement that is famous for its accuracy, losing only a couple of seconds a month.

Case & Crown

The case of this watch is made out of quality stainless steel, which shines beautifully with the watch’s gold and black dial.

Measuring 44mm, the case is quite large, but that’s no problem as larger watches have been a growing trend in recent years.

The case is also 10mm wide, which gives this watch a very strong look, perfect for a modern man. At the 3 o’clock position rests the crown, which used to set the time and change the watch mode.

Above and below the crown are the control buttons for the stopwatch, which look perfect on the case. Surrounding the case is a stationary stainless steel bezel that adds so much to the watch’s overall aesthetic.

Strap

Fossil FS4813 angled

Fossil is known for using high-quality leather in their straps which is why their watches are incredibly comfortable to wear, and yet again they delivered with the strap on this watch.

The brown leather strap that comes with the Fossil FS4813 is the perfect compliment to the classy case and dial, while also being the perfect width (22mm) to accompany a large men’s watch.

Additional Features

The watch has three subdials, one for 24-hour time, which I thought was a very nice touch to the watch, and the other two are for the stopwatch, which are perfect complications to accompany this watch.

The watch is also water resistant up to 50 meters, which has become the standard for most watches, but that doesn’t mean that the watch is designed for long periods of time underwater.

So it is definitely not suitable for diving.

All in All

This watch is by far one of Fossil’s most elegant designs, being a perfect dress watch to accompany your best suit, while also being subtle enough to harmonize with an everyday smart casual outfit.

If you’re modern watch wearer, this watch should definitely be on your radar for the next addition to your collection.
