The Bulova 96B258 pilot watch takes inspiration from the past and brings it to the future.
I stumbled upon this piece while searching for a new everyday watch that can also be worn for certain formal occasions.
This watch immediately caught my attention with the contrast between the dial and the case of the watch.
I noticed that the basic design of the watch wasn’t at all flashy, but the contrast would definitely catch the attention of watch lovers everywhere.
It was because of this I decided to learn more about the watch.
And I’ll show you some of the more interesting things I found out in this Bulova 96B258 review.
- From the Bulova Archive Series, The Lunar Pilot made space history on August 2, 1971--during the Apollo 15 mission, a moon pilot...
- 6 Hand, Chronograph, High Performance Quartz
- Silver-Tone Stainless Steel
Pros:
- A timepiece with a great historical background, perfect for gifting
- Easy to see time and read the chronographs
- Top-rated timekeeping accuracy
Cons:
- Might be a bit bulky for some
A Timeless Design
As mentioned earlier, the design of this timepiece is what immediately caught my attention.
After diving deep into the details of the watch, I only appreciated the design more.
The dial steals the show when it comes to this watch.
The deep black background is a touch of class from Bulova.
Resting on the background are three sub-dials, which are the watch’s chronograph display, white stick markers, and a tachymeter.
While that may sound like a lot to put on a dial, the simple color choices make it look very natural and simple.
To add to all that, the large stainless steel case and bracelet are the perfect shade to match and highlight the dial. All in all, just a really well thought out design.
One Of The Most Accurate Watches On The Market

Now, that may seem like a bold claim, but hear me out.
The watch uses the ever-reliable Precisionist movement of Bulova.
This movement, which was released in 2010, pushed watch technology to a completely different level.
By using a three-pronged Quartz crystal, Bulova was able to create a movement accurate to within seconds of a year.
Now that beats out mechanical, automatic, and standard quartz movements by a fair amount.
Accuracy is very important to me, which is why I was really happy to learn that this watch is equipped with the Precisionist.
High-Quality Materials
Another thing I love about this piece is that it is made with premium materials.
That adds legitimacy and a bit of prestige to this already great timepiece.
The case is made of stainless steel, which is about as good as it gets in this price range.
However, I was really surprised to learn that it is equipped with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
A sapphire crystal is one of the most scratch-resistant materials available, providing extra protection for the dial.
Customer Reviews And Scores

Of course, I needed to figure out what actual buyers of the watch thought of the actual product.
That’s why I went to the review section of Amazon, only to find a great number of positive reviews from satisfied customers.
One customer went on to say that this watch has some of the best value for its price.
A couple of customers were also really enthusiastic about the detailed yet simple layout of the dial.
Both of these things I can actually agree with.
However, I did find one complaint.
It came from a customer who would have preferred a diver-style clasp over the butterfly-style one on this watch.
This is a valid complaint, but learning to use the butterfly-style clasp is not hard at all.
All it takes is a little getting used to.
Conclusion
Overall, this is just a solid timepiece. Great design, premium movement, and practical functions.
There isn’t much more to be desired from this timepiece.
So if you like keeping it simple and stylish, I highly recommend this Bulova model.
